How We Are Different

Our Focus

Our commitment to quality surpasses traditional good building practices. We leverage the principles of Building Science throughout the construction of your custom home. This advanced approach treats your home as a series of interconnected systems, each having an impact on other systems of the home. Each system needs to be meticulously designed right, installed right, and  maintained right according to Building Science principles to ensure an energy efficient, durable, and healthy home.

Energy Efficiency

Whether you want to implement a budget conscious approach or build entirely off the grid, we can accommodate your needs.

Indoor Air Quality

We take a conscientious approach to minimize indoor air pollutants and maximize fresh air.

Moisture Management

We are mindful of moisture control to  prevent mold, unhealthy air, and structural damage to your home.

What We Do Differently

Treat Framing For Mold Prior To Construction

While microscopic mold spores may be present on some delivered lumber, visible mold contamination shouldn't be tolerated. While there are builders who may consider this acceptable, we prioritize a proactive approach. After your home reaches the dried-in stage (roof on, windows and doors installed), we conduct a meticulous inspection and cleaning of all lumber. This eliminates any potential mold growth before it becomes an issue within your walls, ensuring a healthy and mold-free environment for your new home.

Design HVAC Systems With Proper Ventilation to Constantly Bring in Fresh Air

Modern construction prioritizes tight thermal envelopes for superior energy efficiency. While this approach conserves energy, a key consideration becomes maintaining healthy indoor air quality. Our team prioritizes a balanced approach. We integrate the design of your HVAC system in conjunction with the thermal envelope to ensure adequate ventilation. This proactive strategy prevents moisture accumulation, fostering a comfortable and healthy living environment for your family.

Use ZIP System® Insulated R-Sheathing

Tight thermal envelopes, while crucial for energy efficiency, can impact ventilation. Zip System R-Sheathing offers a streamlined solution. This innovative product combines continuous insulation with a water-resistant barrier, effectively reducing air infiltration and boosting insulation values. The result? Enhanced comfort, improved indoor air quality, and significant energy savings for your home.

Energy efficient building begins with creating a tight house. Since 2011, the state of Georgia requires a blower door test be conducted on every house. The purpose of the test is to quantify the air leakage.
